Risk deterrence, prevention or mitigation are results of efforts taken by the National Security key players and other stakeholders.

The quality of the results is subsequent to planning and preparedness, an initial process of risk management.

Risk analysis, as a foundation for risk management, impulse chain of strategic and operational actions of the competent authorities. When nuclear and radioactive materials out of regulatory control are considered as a threat for health, economic, public and State, specific approaches should be taken into account while performing risk analysis.

The IAEA and Sultanate of Oman organized Regional Workshop on Risk Informed approach for Materials out of Regulatory Control, where representatives of Oman, Cambodia, Indonesia and Kyrgyzstan practiced specifics of a risk informed approach following different Nuclear Security Risk Scenarios and acknowledge methodologies of a Risk Analysis, threat, vulnerability and consequence assessments as well as its crucial relations to decision making, planning and communicating with relevant stakeholders.
